Roan Program

The Roan program pairs talented students from around the world to study together and learn from another, as they immerse themselves in a global education at both the US and China’s top caliber institutions. The Roan Program hopes to create a highly engaged global alumni network in order to promote the awareness and participation of these scholars, as well as support them in the next stage of their college lives.

The Institute for Accessibility Development, Tsinghua University, planned and ran the universal accessibility workshop specifically designed for the Roan Program with the Institute of Global Development, Tsinghua University on July 18, 2019. There were more than 30 high school students participating in the workshop.

Group Discussion

Persons with different types of disability, including physical disabilities, hearing disabilities, visual disabilities and rare diseases, were invited to participate in the workshop and share their personal stories with high school students. This storytelling technique resulted in gaining better and deeper understanding of the concept of universal accessibility for high school students.
